Resilience is More Than an Energy Concept, It’s the Core of Our Business

Dear Lumin Team, Partners, Customers and Clean Energy Advocates, 

As we celebrate Lumin's 8th anniversary, I am filled with gratitude and pride for what we've accomplished together. When Lumin was founded, I had a vision: to unlock the transition to clean, renewable and abundant energy. Today, that vision is a reality, thanks to your dedication, innovation and support.

The solar and storage industry has undergone profound changes in the last decade. What was once a niche market has now become a driving force in the global energy transition. Yet, this progress hasn’t always come easily. The solar market has been a rollercoaster, full of highs and lows, as we’ve navigated policy changes, shifting consumer demands and evolving technologies. Right now, we’re experiencing another cycle, but history has shown us that the market always comes out stronger on the other side. 

This resilience is driven by our industry's ability to adapt and embrace new technologies. Innovations like batteries, virtual power plants and load management systems are setting the stage for the next wave of growth. Lumin’s technology is at the heart of this transformation, enabling smarter more efficient energy use in homes and businesses across the country. 

When I started Lumin, the idea of applying load management to homes seemed counterintuitive. At the time, few saw the value in this approach. But we knew that managing loads alongside solar and storage would unlock new levels of efficiency and resilience. Today, as distributed energy resources—solar, storage and beyond—are converging with the electrification of homes and buildings, Lumin is more relevant than ever. We've paved the way, and now we are best positioned to capitalize on this trend as the industry evolves. This gives me confidence that we will come out even stronger in the next cycle. 

I am reminded of a moment from the early days of this industry transformation. In 2013, I attended the RE+ tradeshow in Chicago, back when it was still known as Solar Power International (SPI). While exploring startup alley, I was pitched an idea that was, at the time, revolutionary: to control multiple distributed batteries as one large unit, effectively creating a virtual power plant. This concept, which seemed ahead of its time, has since become a key pillar of the energy industry, widely known today as the Virtual Power Plant. It's incredible to see how far we've come, and it’s moments like these that highlight the importance of innovation and forward-thinking in our industry. 

Lumin’s journey mirrors these developments. From our early days, we knew that the future of energy would be smart, connected and adaptive. Our smart panels have empowered thousands of homeowners to take control of their energy -- integrating solar, storage and automation in ways that were once only imagined. This achievement is a testament to the collective effort of our team, the trust of our customers, and the belief of our investors and partners. 

Looking ahead, the future is bright. The demand for clean, resilient energy solutions continues to grow, and Lumin is well-positioned to lead in this space. Together, we will continue to innovate, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, and driving the transition to a cleaner, smarter energy future.
